Trevor Ariza

All right, amidst all this madness in March, I want to pause to celebrate Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trevor Ariza.

Fitzpatrick will be playing in his 17th NFL season.

Ariza is currently in his 17th NBA season.

Two long careers made more remarkable by their two far-flung journeys.

Fitzpatrick just signed with the Washington Football Team.

This will be the ninth NFL team in which he has started at quarterback.

That is a record. But he’s never made a playoff appearance.

In order, he has been with the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins and now Washington.

Trevor Ariza has out-Fitzed FitzMagic.

He was traded this week to the Miami Heat.

The Heat will be Ariza’s 10th NBA team – that’s one-third of the league.

I’m not even counting OKC, which just traded him, because he never played a single game for the Thunder.

And among his 10 NBA teams, Ariza played for the Houston Rockets two different times and played for the Washington Wizards two different times.

During the past offseason – in a single week, Ariza was traded from the Trail Blazers to the Rockets to the Pistons to OKC.

Do you have any idea how many cities he has left dry cleaning in?
