Bio
Characteristic of a career marked by persistent underachievement, Norman Chad has been the “color commentator” on ESPN’s World Series of Poker since 2003, receiving the American Poker Awards’ “lifetime achievement honor” in 2018. He also has been America’s only nationally syndicated sports columnist – first with his NFL picks column and then with his Couch Slouch humor column – appearing in The Washington Post, Chicago Sun-Times and 20 other newspapers since 1995, a feat diminished by the fact no one reads newspapers anymore. Previously, Mr. Chad held several prominent positions: Columnist at The Washington Post, The National sports daily and Sports Illustrated; co-host of ESPN’s Reel Classics and substitute co-host and guest on ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption; studio commentator on TNT’s NFL studio show and humor essayist on CNBC Great Stuff. He also has written scripts for HBO’s Arliss and ABC’s Coach. Chad penned the 1993 book Hold On Honey, I’ll Take You To The Hospital at Halftime, a largely unread classic reflecting a lifetime of sitting on his couch watching television. In 1981, he graduated college (well, the University of Maryland) without honors. He is currently a must-must-must-follow on Twitter (@NormanChad) and offers his adoring public unique video access via Cameo, in which fans can get shout outs, happy birthdays and marital & poker counsel. Mr. Chad lives in Los Angeles with his saint-like, long-suffering wife Toni.
