words matter

Words matter, I’m often told, and, well, I’m a words guy myself.

I use 200, maybe 300 words a day, and even though almost every one of them is one syllable or a very simple word, I try to use them wisely, or judiciously….which is a pretty fancy word.

I don’t like when people screw around with words to try and fool us.

Okay, so a bunch of Australian marine biologists and conservationists have recommended renaming ‘shark attacks’ on humans to ‘negative encounters.’

They wish to do this to QUOTE dispel inherent assumptions that sharks are ravenous, mindless man-eating monsters. END QUOTE

Okay, let’s start with the fact that sharks are ravenous, mindless man-eating monsters.

In addition, although I have never been the victim of a shark attack, I can’t believe I would call it a ‘negative encounter.’

I’ve got nothing against sharks — in fact, I don’t believe they are all mindless, like, say, Greg Gutfeld is — but a shark attack is a shark attack.

A negative encounter?

This is an interesting tactic.

So, a losing poker session is just a negative encounter?

A failed marriage, popularly known as a divorce, is just a negative encounter?

A Black Eyed Peas concert is just a negative encounter?

The Trump presidency was just a negative encounter?

Say what you mean, and mean what you say:

A shark attack is a shark attack.
